PinHire Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data (information about you) PinHire collects and why. It also says who we share it with, how long we keep it and what your rights are. It follows India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Effective date: 29 October 2026
In short (simple English)
- PINCLER TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED (Bangalore, India) decides how we use your data on PinHire.
- We use your data to run your account and the test. We also use it to keep the test fair and take payments. And we use it to connect you with partner startups.
- Partner startups get your details only if 2 things are true. You passed the test (85 or more), and your profile sharing is on. Then they get your name, email, mobile number, profile and scores. They also get the link to your 60-second video.
- You can turn sharing off at any time on your profile page. We cannot take back details that a startup already has.
- We never see your full card number or CVV. We never see your UPI PIN or bank password. They go straight to Razorpay, which handles our payments.
- We do not sell your data. We do not use it for ads. PinHire pages have no ad trackers.
- Most pages use Microsoft Clarity (see section 4). It shows us how people use the site. It never records what you type into forms.
- During the skill check and the test, we watch for signs of cheating. The test page does not turn on your camera or microphone. It does not record your screen.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your data. Email support@pincler.com. It is free. We answer within 30 days.
If this short version and the full text are different, the full text is the rule.
1. Who is responsible for your data
PINCLER TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED, 3, 1st Floor, Byadarahalli, Viswaneedam Post, Magadi Road, Yeshwanthpur Hubli, Bangalore - 560091, Karnataka, India (“we”, “us”, “our”) decides how your personal data on PinHire is used. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are the “Data Fiduciary” (the one who decides how the data is used) and you are the “Data Principal” (the person the data is about).
This policy covers the PinHire pages at www.pincler.com/pinhire, the PinHire test and the emails we send about PinHire. The rest of pincler.com has its own privacy policy.
When you create an account, you agree that we can use your personal data as this policy explains. Where Indian law allows it, we also use some data without your consent. For example, we may do this to keep tax records or to answer a lawful request from the government. You can withdraw (take back) your consent at any time (see Your rights).
2. What we collect and why
| What we collect | Why we use it |
|---|---|
| Account details: your full name, email address, mobile or WhatsApp number, graduation year, and your college roll number or the last 4 characters of your PAN. We also give you a PinHire ID (the Candidate ID on your profile page). | To create and run your account. To check that each person has only one account. To email you about your account, the test and your results. To contact you about your score and interviews. |
| Password and sign-in: your password, stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into your password (we cannot read it). We also keep a scrambled copy of your sign-in token and the time you last signed in. | To sign you in and keep your account safe. |
| Profile details you choose to add: headline, preferred work location, skills, LinkedIn link, portfolio link and “about you” text. Older accounts may also have a GitHub profile link. Your profile sharing choice, and when you last turned sharing on. | To build your profile. Partner startups see it only if you pass the test and turn on sharing. |
| Skill check and test records: your answers, scores and the times of your attempts; the web address of your live build and the results of our tests on it; the link to your 60-second webcam video for Part 3, and the reviewer’s decision. | To score your test, show you your results and check that results are fair. If you pass and turn on sharing, partner startups also get your scores and the link to your 60-second video. |
| Test monitoring records: signs of possible cheating during the skill check or a test, such as leaving the test page, with the time, the question number and a device reference. | To keep the test fair (see section 3). |
| Blocked sign-ups: if our checks stop a sign-up because the person may already have an account, we keep a record of the attempt. It has the email and mobile number that were entered, the device reference and the time. | To keep one account per person, and to check it again if you tell us we made a mistake. |
| Device and network details: your IP address (for example when you sign up, when a sign-in fails and when you download a Builder Pass file), a device reference (a short code that your browser sends us), and the time of these actions. | To keep accounts and the test secure, to stop one person from making many accounts, to protect paid files and to slow down repeated failed sign-ins. |
| How you use the website: on most pages, Microsoft Clarity records the pages you view, your clicks, scrolling and mouse movement (see section 4). | To find the parts of the website that are hard to use, and make them better. |
| Payment records: the Razorpay order ID and payment ID, the amount, the GST, your invoice number, the date, the payment status, and that you ticked the box at checkout. Razorpay also sends us records of payment events. These can include your email, your phone number, the payment method, your UPI ID, your bank or wallet name, the card network and the last 4 digits of your card, and the bank’s reference number for the payment. | To confirm your payment, open your pass, give you an invoice, handle refunds and keep the records that tax law needs. |
| Download records: which Builder Pass file you downloaded and when, with your IP address and device reference. | To protect paid files from being shared. |
| Email records: the type of each email we send you (such as a reminder or a payment confirmation), the address, the time and whether it was sent. | To make sure important emails reach you and to fix delivery problems. |
| Messages you send us, for example by email. | To answer you and keep a record of what we agreed. |
Practice lab answers are checked when you submit them, but we do not save them on our servers.
3. Test monitoring
The test must be fair for everyone, so the test is monitored:
- During the skill check and the 60-minute test, we watch for signs of cheating, such as leaving the test page, copying or taking screenshots.
- A PinHire reviewer watches the webcam video that you send for Part 3.
- We test your live build and keep the results.
The test page does not turn on your camera or microphone. It does not record your screen. You record the 60-second video yourself and send us a link to it.
We use these records only to keep the test fair and to check results. A person at PinHire looks at the records before we cancel a score or close an account. We do not share how our checks work, because that would make them weaker.
5. Partner startups and profile sharing
Your profile is private. We share it with partner startups only if both of these are true: you passed the test (your best score is 85 or more out of 100), and your profile sharing is on.
If both are true, our team sends these details to partner startups:
- your name and PinHire ID;
- your email address and mobile number;
- your profile details: headline, preferred location, skills, LinkedIn link, portfolio link, “about you” text, and a GitHub link if your account has one;
- your scores: your skill check score, your best test score and your live build score;
- the link to the 60-second video that you recorded and uploaded for Part 3 (on Loom, YouTube unlisted or Google Drive), and whether a PinHire reviewer has approved it yet.
We do not send them your password, your roll number or PAN characters, your test answers or your payment details.
You can turn sharing on when you sign up, and turn it on or off at any time on your profile page. When you turn it off, we stop sending your profile and your video link to partner startups. We cannot take back details that a startup has already received. Each startup is responsible for how it uses those details. Once your score is final, you can also delete your video or make it private on your video service. Then the old link stops working.
If you turned sharing on before 29 October 2026, we add your video link only after you turn sharing off and then on again on your profile page.
6. Data stored in your browser
PinHire’s own code does not set cookies. PinHire pages do not use advertising trackers. We use your browser’s storage only to make the website work:
- Local storage. It keeps your sign-in token, so that you stay signed in on this browser. It also keeps a copy of your account details, such as your name, email, phone number, roll number or PAN characters, plan and scores. Both are deleted when you sign out. If you change the light or dark theme, local storage also keeps that choice until you clear your browser data.
- Session storage. It is only for the current tab. It is deleted when you close the tab. It keeps items that are needed only for a short time. For example: your answers in progress during a test or in the practice lab, your latest skill check result, and the email you typed on the sign-in page.
Microsoft Clarity cookies. On the pages that use Clarity (see section 4), Clarity sets two cookies: _clck keeps a random ID for your browser for up to 1 year, and _clsk links the pages you view in one visit and lasts 1 day. Microsoft may also set its own cookies on clarity.ms. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Microsoft’s privacy statement explains how Microsoft uses this data.
On a shared computer, always sign out when you finish. Razorpay’s payment script and Google Fonts may store or read their own data under their own policies.
7. How long we keep your data
- Account data (your account, profile, the emails we sent you and security records): while your account is open. To delete it, email support@pincler.com and we will delete it, unless the law needs us to keep it.
- Invoices and payment records: for as long as Indian tax law requires, and at least 6 years.
- Test records (answers, scores, video links, live build results and monitoring records): for as long as your score stands (stays valid), so that we can check or explain a result.
When we no longer need data, we delete it or make it anonymous. We may keep data longer if the law requires it or if we need it for a legal claim.
8. How we protect your data
- Every PinHire page uses HTTPS, so data between your browser and PinHire is encrypted.
- We store passwords only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into your password. Sign-in tokens and the links in our emails are also stored only in scrambled form.
- Only people who need your data for their work can see it.
- Your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN and bank passwords never reach our servers.
No system is perfectly secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India, as the law requires.
9. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have these rights:
- Access: ask for a summary of the personal data we have about you, what we do with it, and who we shared it with.
- Correction: ask us to correct, complete or update your data. You can change your profile details yourself on your profile page.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data. We will delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it (for example, invoices for tax).
- Withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. To stop sharing your profile with partner startups, turn sharing off on your profile page. To withdraw all consent, ask us to close your account. This does not change what we did before. Without some data, such as your email address, we cannot run your account.
- Grievance: complain to our Grievance Officer (see section 11). If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India. The Board takes complaints online.
- Nominate: name another person to use your rights for you if you die or cannot act for yourself, for example because of illness.
The law also asks you to give true information, not to pretend to be someone else and not to make false complaints.
10. How to use your rights
Email support@pincler.com from the email address of your PinHire account. Write your PinHire ID (the Candidate ID on your profile page) and what you want us to do. It is free.
We may ask you to prove who you are before we act. We will confirm within 48 hours that we received your request. We will answer it within 30 days.
